I just completed an assignment for Panggung Arts and I shot composites of images and laid down in photoshop. It was indeed a challenging task but I've always wanted more challenge in my photography and i'm glad i got this assignment!
The First process was to shoot the talents in my studio to be composited with other backgrounds. The title of this play is Race To The End, so I visualized a rat race in the big city whereby everyone is struggling with each other in order to get to the finish line. of course there are also disappointment in the race and glory and also cheater!
I shot the skyline from City Hall Padang and I took advantage of the F1 night race track road closure to shoot the road in front of Parliament Building. The skies was some random shot i got near the area which was at the memorial. The sun was scorching hot at that time and i was not too pleased with the afternoon sky. but the skyline wasn't the main focus so i didn't quite mind. I needed trees on the composite image, so I had shots of trees taken T Hortpark much earlier before this.
The Edit;
First was to line up the individual talents that i shot earlier in the studio and resized them according to the desired perspectives. It took quite sometime to get it right and in proportion. I etched out all the individuals in photoshop and saved in psd format for easy use later on. The background was a chroma key green screen. There were color cast spills from the reflected green background and I had to remove them manually in photoshop, color balanced and levelled.
The painful part of the process was when i accidentally flattened save the final edit in PSD! I had to redo everything back because of this. it was good actually, i get to practise my editing skill!
well, i hope u do comment on this and do come for the play!
Warmest regards,
Shahran Ali
